Heat Pump Maintenance

Get Ahead of Winter, Not Behind It

The best time to think about your heat pump is before it stops working properly, not after. A little attention at the right moments each year keeps your system efficient, quiet, and reliable when you actually need it most. Here is what we recommend, and what our technicians check when they visit.

Schedule your yearly service before the cold sets in

Booking maintenance in early autumn means your system is checked and ready before the demand really picks up. Wait until the first cold snap and you are competing with everyone else trying to book the same week.

Clear the outdoor unit properly

Leaves, debris, and snow buildup around the outdoor unit restrict airflow and force the system to work harder than it should. A quick check and clean around the unit makes a real difference to performance.

Check for ice or frost that isn't clearing

A small amount of frost on the outdoor unit during a defrost cycle is normal. Frost that builds up and does not clear on its own usually points to a refrigerant issue or a fan problem worth catching early.

Test heating output on a mild day

Running the system on a mild day, rather than waiting for the first real cold spell, makes it much easier to catch a weak compressor, a noisy fan, or a thermostat that is not communicating properly, before it becomes an emergency call in the middle of winter.

Clean or replace filters regularly

A clogged filter is one of the simplest things to overlook and one of the biggest drags on efficiency. Depending on use, filters should be checked every few months, more often in dustier environments.

Have refrigerant levels checked

Low refrigerant does not always show obvious symptoms right away, but it steadily reduces efficiency and puts extra strain on the compressor. This is not something to check yourself, our technicians handle this safely during a service visit.

Listen for changes in sound

A heat pump that starts running louder, or making a new noise it did not make before, is usually trying to tell you something. Catching this early is almost always cheaper than waiting for it to fail completely.

Keep an eye on your energy bills

A steady, unexplained rise in energy usage is often the clearest early sign that your system is not running as efficiently as it should, well before anything actually breaks down.

What a Kapranthermo Maintenance Visit Covers

Our technicians inspect both indoor and outdoor units, check refrigerant levels and pressure, clean filters and coils, test electrical connections and controls, and run a full performance check before confirming your system is working the way it should. If anything needs attention, we explain it clearly. If nothing does, we tell you that too.

Book your heat pump maintenance visit today, and head into the colder months with one less thing to worry about.
